Beautiful, soulful and poignant photos. I’m reminded of this from one of Leonard Cohen’s songs:
“A riddle in the book of love
Obscure and obsolete
And witnessed here in time and blood
A thousand kisses deep”
~ Leonard Cohen, A Thousand Kisses Deep
I love the light and shade and colouring too. Thanks for sharing.
Blessings to you, Josie
Thank you so much! It’s so great because just the other day a friend and I were talking about Cohen and his wonderful lyrics. This song was one of my favorite performances by him in Atlanta last fall. I would’ve never thought of pairing the song with the photographs, but it’s so perfect (and I feel honored). Thank you. Again.
Oooh, goosebumps – synchronicity! I knew there must be a reason why I felt strongly about including those lyrics in my comment. I’ve not yet had the privilege of attending one of his gigs, but I’ve got his Live in London DVD 🙂
Thanks! Technically Memorial Day is for remembering fallen veterans in this country, but yesterday when I was photographing in Oakland Cemetery, a historic cemetery here in Atlanta, I thought it was also somehow fitting, at least for me (maybe it’s the Derrida I’ve been reading ;). Hope all is well with you. I’ve been MIA for a while, but I’m slowly coming back…

Wonderful photos!
Sorry, hit enter by mistake there.
I wanted to add that I love seeing how people in different countries celebrate and remember those who have passed.

I know little about photography but these are stunning. I love the starkness of them and the shadows. Oh, and I love Leonard Cohen too!
Thanks–and glad to see another who likes Cohen!
