Wow. Mesmerizing. How was the book? Peace…

Thanks, Linda! I’m actually still reading the book. The idea for the poem came from his discussion of the participatory nature of perception, based on the ideas of Merleau-Ponty. I am intrigued by Merleau-Ponty’s understanding of “Flesh.” I do have to say, though, that the poem ended up veering away from what I’d originally envisioned, which was a little more explicitly “interconnectedness of life.” I like this, though, better. It’s made me think of aspects I’d not before considered.

Thank you! This one went through a few incarnations so I’m glad it settled in a place that people enjoy.
